Everyone loves Rice Krispie treats and we’re definitely included in that. It was one of my favorite childhood desserts to eat and something we whip up when we’re craving something sweet but quick. We wanted to try adding a crunchy and salty element to round out this delicious dessert: pretzels! We’ve also added Fruity Pebbles and brown butter for some variety in the sweet flavors of this snack. When you want quick, easy, and delicious, these Fruity Pebble and pretzel Rice Krispie treats are the way to go.
Here’s what you’ll need
- Rice Krispies cereal
- Fruity Pebbles cereal
- Pretzels
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- Salt
- Casserole dish
- Cooking pot
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Food processor (optional)
Let’s get started!
- Chop pretzels
Use a food processor to roughly chop the pretzels. You don’t want to grind them to powder; just chop them into larger pieces. If you don’t have a food processor, put the pretzels in a Ziplock bag and crush them with your hands!
- Melt and brown the butter
Melt the butter in a pot at low-medium heat. Stir the butter until it browns. This should take about 4-6 minutes.
- Melt the marshmallows
After turning the range heat to low, you’ll add the marshmallows and salt into the melted butter. Stir the marshmallows around until they’re fully melted.
- Add cereals and pretzels into the marshmallow mix
Now you’ll remove the pot from heat and add the Rice Krispies, Fruity Pebbles, and chopped pretzels. Mix thoroughly.
- Pour mix into dish and let cool
You’re almost done! Spray the casserole dish with non-stick spray, then pour the mix into the casserole dish. All that’s left is to lightly press the mix into the dish to even it out and let it cool before serving!
