Are we the only ones that love garlic and add it to just about everything? A local Nashville restaurant serves a garlic lover’s pizza that inspired us to roast our own garlic and create this roasted garlic Texas toast pizza. Roasting the garlic is really simple and it gives this recipe an extra infusion of flavor. This is the perfect appetizer or side to serve alongside your favorite Italian meal.
What you’ll need
- Box of frozen garlic Texas toast
- Garlic bulbs
- Mozzarella cheese
- Sliced pepperoni or your choice of pizza topping
- Aluminum foil
- Baking sheet/pan
Let’s get to cooking roasted garlic Texas toast pizza
- Roast garlic
Preheat oven to 400°F. Cut the top of the garlic bulb so that the garlic cloves are exposed. Go ahead and take off most of the outer skin. Wrap completely in aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. I baked mine in a muffin pan since it sits in there nicely, but any sheet or pan will do.
- Prep roasted garlic
Take roasted garlic out of the oven and raise the temperature to 425°F or according to box instructions for garlic Texas toast. Take out the garlic Texas toast and separate them all. Using the edge of a spoon, squeeze the roasted garlic out of the skin.
- Spread roasted garlic
Spread the roasted garlic on top of each piece of garlic Texas toast. The garlic should be soft enough to spread easily.
- Add mozzarella and pepperoni
Cover each slice of garlic Texas toast with mozzarella and then with pepperoni.
- Bake and broil Texas toast
Bake according to package instructions for garlic Texas toast. If the cheese is not melted enough, bake for a few more minutes or broil on high for about 1 minute or until cheese is melted enough. Keep an eye while melting cheese since it can burn quickly. Serve hot and enjoy!
