I made these stuffed honey butter breakfast biscuits for brunch with a friend and it was a huge hit. They’re really easy to make, but they look impressive and taste amazing. It’s also versatile in that you can swap it out for whatever filling you prefer. I think I’m even going to try making a dinner version sometime. Top these stuffed breakfast biscuits with honey butter, syrup, or even gravy and they will be eaten up in no time!
Here’s What You’ll Need (exact measurements in recipe card below)
- Can of honey butter biscuits – If you prefer another flavor, totally okay to use that instead.
- Mild sausage – Feel free to swap this out with bacon or whatever meat you prefer!
- Eggs
- Cheddar cheese
- “Everything but the bagel” seasoning – This is optional, but we love this seasoning and use it pretty much anytime we eat eggs.
- Flour
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet or dish
- Nonstick spray
Let’s Get to Cooking Stuffed Honey Breakfast Butter Biscuits
- Cook Sausage and Eggs
Cook your sausage, set the cooked sausage aside in a bowl, and then cook your scrambled eggs in the same pan using the leftover grease from the sausage. Then go ahead and place your sausage, eggs, and cheese around your biscuits so it’s easily accessible once you start rolling out your biscuits.
- Preheat Oven and Roll Out Biscuit Dough
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll and flatten out one biscuit dough as much as you can.
- Add the Filling
Using a tablespoon, add about a scoop of egg and one scoop of sausage to the middle of the flattened dough. Then sprinkle as little or as much cheese as you like on top.
- Wrap Up the Filling
Pull one side of the biscuit dough up to cover the filling. Keep pulling up another part of the dough all the way around until the filling is covered.
- Place in Dish and Apply Egg Wash
Spray the baking dish with nonstick spray. Place your stuffed biscuit in the dish with the folded side down. Repeat all the previous steps with the rest of your biscuits and be sure to flour your surface and rolling pin in between each one as needed. Once your biscuits are all made and in the baking dish, scramble an egg and brush a little egg on top of each biscuit. Sprinkle with “everything but the bagel” seasoning if you like or feel free to skip this step.
- Bake and Enjoy!
Bake according to biscuit package instructions or about 17-19 minutes. Serve with melted honey butter, syrup, or gravy. These are best devoured fresh and hot!
Hit Me With Those Questions
I realized that I didn’t have a rolling pin at home so what you can do is just find a glass bottle that you have. In my case, I used a bottle of hot sauce. Just make sure you wash the outside of the bottle before using it in lieu of a rolling pin.
If the biscuit dough tears at any time, try your best to pinch it shut but don’t even worry about it if you can’t. It shouldn’t affect how it cooks and how tasty it is!
Tips I Learned, Mistakes I Made
Sometimes the biscuit dough may seem like it’s not stretching enough when flattening it. When that happened, I just pulled on the dough a little more with my hands when it came to the step of covering the filling.
